Exterior Painting
Expert Exterior Painting from Carl Rice Plastering
How It Works
Survey and honest quote
I inspect the substrate, identify repairs and recommend suitable coatings. Quotes are transparent and based on observed preparation and access, not guesswork.
Thorough preparation
Pressure washing, raking out failed pointing, filling hairline defects and priming where required. Proper prep prevents premature failure and ensures a uniform finish.
Controlled application and tidy finish
Using specialist primers and airless sprayers or brush and roller where appropriate, I apply the right breathable paint system and leave a clean site with final snagging.
Why Choose us for Exterior Painting?

Three decades working on Victorian terraces, new builds and harbour-side houses means surfaces are prepared correctly before any paint goes on.
Tidy, insured and easy to contact
A tidy worksite policy, full insurance and WhatsApp photo estimates keep projects straightforward and low disruption.
What I paint and why preparation matters
Rendered and plastered walls need more than a quick brush up. Chalky paint, loose render and poor pointing let water work behind a finish. I assess the render type, remove failed coatings, pressure wash, and carry out raking out and minor repairs so the new coating keys correctly. For older lime renders I specify breathable masonry paints to avoid trapped moisture.
Practical finish choices and aftercare
Colours and sheen are chosen to suit local materials, from Plymouth terraces to seaside cottages where salt spray shortens paint life. I supply sample patches on request, advise on maintenance cycles and tidy up fully after completion. With 30 years on site I focus on lasting results rather than cosmetic quick fixes.
